This was the first ever Tour de Chug jersey that was introduced. It was introduced at the Nittany Valley 650th weekend on Friday by riding in on the old bike that Beaver Balls had found on trail in Pittsburgh. The challenges began immediately and I sought to retain the jersey. After 10 straight wins (the silent rule was in effect of course, whereby a bunch of people let me win to teach me a lesson) I relinquished the jersey. The jersey was worn by many that weekend, including a romp in the mud at the beercheck on the Saturday trail while Pork Screw was wearing it. From the beggining I wasn't sure that I wanted to give up the jersey. On Sunday after the usual beer and flouring of the new Tyrant I challenged, won and put the jersey away. The idea was that at the 700th (August 2001) I would use the original jersey to conduct the Tour and then at noon on Sunday the last challenger to wear it would take it home with them. Unfortunately, cum Sunday morning of the 700th weekend one of the DC hashers, we think Diaper, sucked at chugging, so he stole the jersey as he left early on Sunday morning, before the 2001 edition could be given away. As a result there were no challenges on Sunday to the dismay of many hashers and I retained the 2001 Edition jersey for next year's (750th). |
